The Location

Newstead Racecourse and Recreation Reserve was once the longest racecourse in Australia, and now welcomes RV travellers to camp at their serene, shady site. Stays of up to 72 hours are permitted for a donation of $5 per person per night via the honesty box at the entrance.

Potable water, barbecue facilities, a covered bar area, toilets and showers are available, with a dump point.

Please note that camping is not available during the Anzac Day weekend and the first weekend in October due to large events being held (excluding ticket holding patrons for these events).

Lovely and peaceful, large open area with trees, electric BBQ($1 coin, $2 will cook your meal). Great hot showers, flushing toilets, power point in toilets with push button timer. A bit far to walk into town, but a short drive. They're putting in a new road internally, it looks like it might get a bit damp. $10 per RV for 2 people, plus $5 for additional people.

Lovely place to stay. Handy to the Goldfields areas. Very level grounds but in rain could get a bit boggy. Dump point, water and amenities. Honesty box on building at front gate.

This is one of the nicest recreation reserves we have stayed at. Everything is here that could be needed. Serene countryside and great facilities, including hot showers. $10 per night, permit to be displayed, and funds go to support caring for the campsite. Congratulations to the community of Newstead.

We love this quiet level camping area. Good flush toilets and showers. Short walk to shops and hotel.
