Alstonville Showground

This showground is still very pleasant to stay in. The rates have increased to $22 a night for a powered site.

Were quite impressed with this camp site. Grass was lush and we camped in the show ring itself. Didn t use facilities as we are self contained. Easy walking distance to town shops and found the caretaker very friendly and helpful. Considered it good value for money.

Great camp close to local shopping and local large towns such as Ballina and Lismore. Dump point installed just this week and while it is in use there is still a lot of cleaning up around to be done due to current construction of a new amenities block. (See photos) New very friendly and capable caretakers.

Caretakers Ann and John would be amongst the best we have come across our travels. Very friendly and helpful. Grounds are tidy and well kept.

New caretakers are wonderful. Amenities are very clean, soap and paper towels and some personal touches. Plenty of sites with power and water. If you want full shade you can park under the big shed.

Just spent a week here for our annual camp oven gathering (COG). Russ and Sandra are the new Caretakers recently arrived. Disappointed as we have been coming here for a camp oven gathering for ten years now and the Show Society have a new rule that no fires are allowed. Also no awning mats are allowed, regardless of the type. Was told that there will be a price increase of $5 a night from next month.

Held our tenth anniversary camp oven gathering here this weekend. See photos. Great hosts with Bob & Narelle. Facilities here are fantastic.

Here again with friends for a camp oven gathering. Has a new Caretaker. Bob & Narelle have moved on and Val is now Caretaker with same number. For around the next two years the majority of the shed, all grounds outside the oval and the buildings have been leased to film crews. All camping is now on the oval. New power boxes have been installed around the oval as well as multi taps for water. While the film crew are here a temporary dump point has been installed just outside the gate access to the oval. This is a pump out dump point that is regularly emptied. The actual empty point is above waste level as it is sitting on the above ground tank so need to lift a cassette. In my opinion large RV’s with large tanks would not be able to use it. Prices are the same. New washing machines in the laundry and the old amenities are currently being refurbished. For location, price, amenities, close men’s to town and great caretaker we give this place 5 stars

We stayed here for a week. Caretakers Rob and Carlene keep everything very clean and tidy. Even personal touches in the amenities. You can park in the big shed or around the grounds. Area in the grounds is very flat too. Close to the coast, local shops are great and there is plenty of walks, waterfalls and stunning views in the surrounding area. The hatted Harvest cafe at Newrybar is divine for a special meal.
