The Location

Tailem Bend is situated on the cliffs of the Murray River, 99 kilometres east of Adelaide. The town came to be with the arrival of the railway line in 1887, and now thrives on pig farming, dairying and grain growing in the area.

The Tailem Bend Football Club is found on Granites Road, and offers sites for $10 per vehicle per night. Please call the caretaker, Brian, to pay your fees and advise your length of stay (this is negotiable). Brian will also provide access to toilets, showers, and a BBQ on request. Potable water is provided, and pets are permitted on leads. During the football season meals are available for purchase on Thursday and Saturday evenings.

For a glimpse into the pioneer era, “Old Tailem Town” is a theme park displaying the life of the settlers from 1860 to 1960. Or for those feeling brave, the park also offers nightly Ghost Tours.

Best showers ever. Brian is the greatest ambassador the town could ever wish for. Lovely area very well kept. Cricket club invites all campers to join in BBQ's for $5 a head. Town very friendly.

Great spot. Away from the highway and a short walk to the shops. About 10 here last night, some around the oval. Plenty of room to spread out. Suggest you park away from main gate as the car park fills up with players and meetings in the club rooms. Thanks TBFC.

What showers? We were the only people here, a man (I assume Brian) showed up, didn't get out of his car, took our $10 and drove off. I asked him what was open and he said the toilet was. Which are a bit dated to say the least. Perhaps we just met him on a bad day?

Showers pretty crummy. Instant gas. Too hot or freezing. Facilities very basic. Dusty parking area.

Brian was great. Met us as we arrived and unlocked the showers for us. Very basic area. No power or water. We told him we needed power so he hooked us up inside the shower room
