Murphy’s Haystacks are ancient, wind-worn pillars and boulders of pink granite estimated to be over 1,500 million years old. Set in the middle of a wheat field and surrounded by mallee scrub, they are one of the most popular and photographed attractions on the Eyre Peninsula.
Visitors to the Haystacks are invited to explore and discover these majestic rocks with a walking track, interpretive signage, toilets and sheltered picnic facilities.
Murphy’s Haystacks are located on the Cash family farm, 39 kilometres south of Streaky Bay and just two kilometres off the main Flinders Highway on the main road into Calca and Point Labatt. There is a small fee that is paid into an honesty box. This is the only way they receive funds to maintain this parking area.
This is a small area with little shade but OK for an overnighter. Toilets and shelter shed with tables are inside the perimeter of the Haystacks so a fee of $2 per person is asked for or $5 for a family. This is private property so the donation goes towards upkeep of the grounds and amenities.

Wow! Amazing views. Open flat camping with toilets in carpark. It could get busy during the day with tourists. $10 donation and gorgeous honey for sale in hut.

We called in here in 2011 to view the haystacks which are quite unique and provide a great view over the surrounding country. You could overnight here at the time but it was a very basic site.

Some level spots to park, very quiet and the owner Mr Cash is welcoming and enjoys meeting tourists. The rock formations are awesome. $10 to stay overnight, toilet available.
