The Location
This free camping area is gravel based and located on the river bank. It has plenty of shade as well if desired. Here you will find toilets, dump point and camp fires are allowed. There is a maximum of 5 nights allowed. If you're looking for potable water, then try Len White Reserve on River Reserve Road for the water. It also has free WIFI courtesy of the Mid Murray Council.

What a joy to find such a beautiful spot right on the river, suitable for tents to big rigs. The small town of Swan Reach is within walking distance (500m) via the ferry across the river. We do recommend calling in to the Riverview Takeway & Cafe just by the ferry. A 5 Star cafe, you must try the chocolate moment cookies, yummy!! Have a chat with the friendly owners Peter & Dawn. A truly memorable few nights.

Fantastic camp site especially if you get one of the sites with full view of the river and cliffs. It is not a huge area and probably would hold about 12 or so if everyone parked in a way that allowed others in. I went for one night and stayed two. It was fascinating to watch the penguins early in the morning catching fish which were jumping. Birdlife here was great. I would readily come again to this camp if in the area.
