The Location

Welcome to Barcaldine Tourist and Caravan Park. This Caravan Park is an Oasis in the west, located in Barcaldine, Central West Queesland. It offers beautiful grassy caravan sites and comfortable accommodation in their well appointed cabins.

Barcaldine, also known as the Garden City of The West, was established in November 1886. In 1891 'The Great Shearer’s Strike' took place under a large ghost gum in the centre of town. This site became known as the Tree of Knowledge and led to the start of the Australian Labour Party. Unfortunately the ghost gum was poisoned in May 2006 and never recovered. Today the site houses an architecturally designed memorial, which was officially opened on the 2nd May 2009.

There is plenty to see in Barcaldine. Take a stroll along the Main street and take in the Tree of Knowledge site, and then visit the Australian Workers Heritage Centre and the Historical Museum. The town also comes alive on the May Day long weekend every year when they have the Tree Of Knowledge Festival.

At Barcaldine Tourist Park, staff are extremely friendly to all and love meeting new people and getting to know them. They pride themselves on providing great service and a clean, comfortable environment for guests to enjoy.

The caravan park has 7 roomy unisex showers with their own toilet for privacy. It also offers disabled access & shower, laundry with coin operated washing machines & dryers, book exchange, gas refills, large camp kitchen, pet friendly and much more.

This is a pleasant, well-maintained park. The sites are generously sized, offering some shade and some grass. The camp kitchen is attractive. A campfire with billy tea and damper is usually available every afternoon. The staff are friendly - new management as of a month ago. The amenities are good - I particularly liked the ensuite style showers. Kangaroos come and nibble the grass in the evenings.
