About

The Location

We have been open since April 2012 and offer an authentic bush experience for travellers of all kinds.  With large sites we can easily accommodate caravans and trailers of any size.  Individual campfires are available  as well as a communal fire where we will do the hard work for you!

On the weekends you can meet Kelly and Odie  - the kelpies who will be happy to show off their skills with the sheep, or just enjoy a pat with Tom the goat, the lambs, one of the poddy calves, the horses, one of the dogs or any other animal which is following Joe around on the day.

Wood fired Pizzas are here!  Every Tuesday night you can choose something from our fantastic  menu.  All pizzas are made with thin homemade bases and cooked while you watch in our wood fired oven.  We also now offer bush smokos and camp oven dinners - check the blackboards to see what is available.

There is an amazing variety of birdlife in the outback and our park offers a great way to get that rare photo - make sure you have a walk around at night as you might see one of our beautiful Barking Owls.

The Red Lizard Outback Shop is sure to have something for everyone from polo shirts and stubbie coolers to handmade soaps, locally made olive products and native Australian skincare.

The Red Lizard is a truly lovely camp area with excellent facilities. You will really feel you’re camping in the bush but with security and amenities. It’s close to Charleville. There’s power and even a book exchange. Friendly owner operators. Nicely maintained.

Just fabulous! A real bush camping area with mod cons. The amenities are perfect- bush style, with nice touches, such as handmade soaps. There’s a camp kitchen, fire pits, and powered sites yet there’s still the feeling of camping in the bush. Friendly owners.

We stayed at the Red Lizard Camping Ground last year around August. Found it a fantastic spot good facilities with free samples of hand made soap, very large shower and toilet cubicles. Amenities kept clean and always smelt wonderful because of the large bowl of sample soaps. Camp kitchen had free tea, coffee, sugar and milk with mugs supplied. No concrete slabs, but large rectangles of white sand to keep the red dirt out of the van. Truck rims supplied for personal fires ashes were cleaned up promptly after a unit left. Bush walking tracks clearly marked and an abundance of native birds as well as petting animals in paddocks close by. Loved our stay and would recommend it to all travelers. Cheapest powered site in Charleville.

Whilst the place has lots of red dirt as you expect, the grounds are well maintained. Unpowered sites have water connections available. $27 pn for 2 on an unpowered sites. Amenities are clean and very nice. Would definitely stay again.

Great spot with large sites and large spotless amenities, wood supplied. Pizzas cooked on wood fired oven, or maybe your taste is a camp oven meal cooked over the pits. Very friendly and accommodating, nothing seems to be an issue. We will be back! Stayed 6 nights. Meals at the RSL are excellent.
