Address
Mitchell Highway Bourke, New South Wales, 2840
Mays Bend was a famous location in Bourke for many years, it was once the crossing-point for huge mobs of Queensland cattle before the North Bourke Bridge was built.
Mays Bend is a free campsite located only 10 kilometres from the Kidman Camp. It is a gorgeous spot along the Darling River which is popular among those who are self-contained. There are no facilities available at this camping spot.
Free camp beside Darling river, peaceful, do not go there if rain is around or coming.

CMCA needs to say the distance from the Hwy to this free camp ground. It is a very corrugated road and I think the drive in is about 15kms. We gave up and turned back.

Lovely peaceful spot, plenty of room for everyone, not hard to find a flat spot. Nothing there so must be self contained. Can have fires and dogs allowed. Approximately 15kms from Bourke, 6kms of which are dirt road, half of that badly corrugated

Great overnighter or 2. We clocked only 4 km from the highway. Heaps of coping stops right on the river.

Beautiful spot beside the river. No facilities. Plenty of room for big rigs. Previous review was very misleading , it is exactly 5.2 kms of gravel road and the first 2.5kms were corrogated. Wouldn’t risk it after rain as would be very boggy.
