About

The Location

We invite you to stay & enjoy our peaceful oasis in the outback, surrounded by shady trees & visited by many native birds & animals. We have a selection of accommodation ranging from air-conditioned cabins with ensuite & spa, to budget rooms & camping grounds.

Enjoy a delicious meal at the fully licensed restaurant & then star-gazing of our impressive night skies at our very own observatory.  Please NB: observatory is open between April & November weather dependant.

There is a variety of well appointed queen & family rooms. Bookings are essential during the peak season from March through till October.  We also allow pets in some cabins - but not all. Please advise staff upon making reservations if you will be bringing your furry family members. Pets are not allowed on the beds or an extra cleaning fee of $20 will be charged.

Our friendly hosts will make you feel at home & can help organize tours to the beautiful limestone caves, marble quarries & local historic sites. Join us & see why many visitors come back time after time!

There is an expansive camping ground, partly grassed with scattered trees. An amenities block & camp kitchen are available to all campers. There are also rustic "bush showers", eco bush toilet, a pool & fireplaces provided throughout the grounds.
There is a recycling station for glass, plastic & metal containers but all other rubbish must be taken with you when you leave.
Bookings are essential for powered sites as there are a very limited number of these available.
Bookings are not required for unpowered sites, but please call ahead to check availability.

The camp ground is also PET FRIENDLY. Visitors are welcome to bring their pets, provided they are well behaved, don't disrupt other guests, and owners are prepared to clean up after them. If you are planning to spend most of your day visiting the caves & other attractions - please consider carefully before bringing your pet along. Most attractions are located withing National Parks & pets are not allowed. For much of the year - it is too hot to leave your pets in the car. Rather than leaving your pet unattented for most of the day & potentially becoming distressed/noisy, please leave them at home. We do not offer dog-minding services & don't want distressed animals causing concerns to other guests.

WiFi - Because of our remote location & the type of internet access we have - wifi is only available to guests staying in cabins.
Noise must be kept to a minimum after 10.00pm.
Furniture located at camp kitchen & observatory MUST NOT BE REMOVED.

Wonderful camping ground run by friendly passionate owners. Unpowered sites mostly shady with great bush views…bush ‘dunnies’ and outdoor showers a highlight, but also option for normal amenities of high standard. Great swimming pool. Observatory presentations mind boggling and a real bonus. Chillagoe has so many attractions, (wonderful caves, historical smelter, Indigenous rock art and more), a 2 night stay is a minimum to do it justice. Highly recommended.

Great place to stay plenty of room for self contained unpowered. Here in early September only about 7 others well spaced out. Facilities as described, out the back where the unpowered sites are a bit basic but we don't need them anyway.
