The Location

Lake Burrumbeet is a large Located 20 kilometres west of Ballarat within the City of Ballarat Municipality.

The area is rich in cultural heritage and is popular for a range of recreational activities including walking, picnicking, camping, boating and fishing. It is home to a number of River Red Gums and is a potential breeding site for Brolga and other wetland species such as the Freckled Duck.

The lake is a large open water body with a surface area of approximately 24 square kilometres. Burrumbeet Creek is the main input to the lake with some other catchment areas to the north and south. 

Burrumbeet is one of the most productive redfin perch waterways in Victoria, with fish up to 2.5 kg and is very popular with anglers.

There is a free campsite at the lake that is well utilised by visitors and locals to the region.
