The Location
This is a great free camping area. It is open, has plenty of shade and grassy. It is a great spot for fishing and has it's own boat ramp. There is plenty of room here including group areas.
Please note: you will need to BYO toilet paper and take your rubbish away with you.
Here you will find toilets and a dump point. Dogs are permitted here.
If you camp at Aysons Reserve, Rochester:
- You need a permit if you want to stay longer than three days and two nights, there is no charge.
- You can only park one caravan at the reserve.
- You can’t spend more than 28 days a year camping at the reserve.
- The general rules about campsite tidiness, toilets and waste disposal also apply.
- To apply for a permit to camp at Aysons Reserve for more than two nights, apply for permit on their website.

Large area suitable for all sized RVs. It is mostly all level sites and probably room for at least 50 Rigs. There is a dump point and toilets here. This was about my 3rd it 4th visit here so it must be good. The Campaspe River here is very clean and clear and you can get excellent sunsets across the river - a photographers delight.

Please note that signage indicates that all campers require a permit. Call or email council using the details on the sign or online. A lovely campsite near the Campaspe River. Plenty of room. Mostly clean, but some other campers noticed that people burn timber with nails so beware if you drive over any former campfire areas.

Nice spot on the Campaspe River, Elmore. Great place to explore this lovely area. The likes of Rochester and Tongala, Elmore and just a quick drive down the road to Bendigo. Rest up and soak in the lovely atmosphere as the sulphur cresteds come into roost for the night, whilst sipping on your brandy. Watching the sun set. If it's hot, don't forget your togs, and take a dip in the Campaspe.

Camped here from 17th March 2016, nice big area with some grass, shady trees scattered about, plenty of water in the river. Toilets in good condition.

Very large area for camping, scattered trees for shade, no problem for large vehicles, toilets very clean, water available in Elmore and Rochester.

Beautiful site, grass needs mowing at the moment but sure this will happen before used as staging area for Elmore rally. A sign at toilet advertising wood for sale, delivered. Council sign advises everyone required to get permit. Highly recommend Em's Hairdresser in Rochester, very happy customer. This is a regular camping area for us.

Huge camping area with shade or sun, whatever you prefer. Clean toilets ( take your own loo paper) and dump point on site. Right on the banks of the Campaspe River. Lovely ??

We camped here over the Easter break and it was packed. It is a lovely spot but parts are not particularly level but this would not be a problem, in less busy times as it is a large area. Toilet blocks were not able to cope at busy time.

Large area for all sized rigs. Plenty of space to choose full sun or a shadier site. Boat ramp for launching fishing boats, canoes and kayaks. Toilets well maintained but take your own loo paper and they are not lit at night. The river is quite still here and not fast flowing so it is safe and pleasant for swimming and canoeing. No bins - you must take your rubbish with you. A great campground.

Large camping area next to Campaspe River with plenty of room in open area for those preferring not to camp under gum trees. Dump Point and well maintained toilet block on site. About 20 RVs here in first week of school holidays but space for quite a few more.
